Dodge City Raceway Park, features a full calendar of auto racing as well as a 3,500-seat main grandstand. Completed in the summer of 2000 at a cost of $3.2 million, Legends Park is a state-of-the-art baseball facility, one of Kansas’ premier four-field multi-use complexes.

The city also boasts a first-class soccer complex. Dodge City also has a challenging 18-hole private golf course and country club, and an 18-hole municipal course and driving range. The famous ski resorts of Colorado are within easy driving distance, and hunters from around the country journey to southwest Kansas to enjoy excellent upland game bird and deer hunting.

Dodge City is proud to have one of the finest public school systems in Kansas. Dodge City Community College prepares over 2,400 students in a wide range of academic fields, ranging from accounting to pre-veterinary medicine. Ft. Hays State University and Kansas State University offer bachelor’s degree completion programs through the EduKan Distance learning program. Master’s degree completion and adult continuing-education programs are also available. Newman University (based in Wichita, Kansas) offers bachelor’s degree completion programs in education, business and other specialties.

ABOUT THE JOB: As the Director of Pharmacy you will oversee all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities, according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal regulations. You will recommend innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carry out mutually agreed upon programs. You will oversee a staff comprised of 2 full time & 3 Per Diem Pharmacists and 3 full time, 1 part time & 1 Per Diem Pharmacy Technicians. Meditech is the pharmacy software system that is utilized and a CPOE implementation and optimization are currently in process.

In this role, you will have a full support team available to you – from Regional Vice President, Regional Clinical Director, and 340b Specialist to a Regulatory Specialist, Drug Information Specialist and more.

Qualifications:

  • Previous acute care pharmacy management and/or residency experience is preferred. (Will consider non-acute care pharmacy supervisory or leadership experience with recent acute care pharmacist work history).
  • Pharmacy Degree is required (PharmD is preferred).
  • Current KS Pharmacist License in good standing or willingness to obtain KS pharmacist license is required.

Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with Meditech.
  • Knowledge and experience with CPOE.
  • Ability to develop & implement clinical services and programs.
  • Ability to contain costs through formulary management and streamlining.

Facility: Western Plains Medical Complex is a Joint Commission (JCAHO) accredited 99 bed hospital, with 25 ADC, that serves as a regional referral center for southwest Kansas. Western Plains provides health services that include Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology, a Cardiac Cath Lab and Cardiac Rehabilitation. The pharmacy is open Monday through Friday 7am-6pm, Saturdays/Sundays/Holidays 7am-3:30pm. When the pharmacy is closed, there is a remote order entry service that provides pharmacy support.
